Oyster Logistics terms and conditions of service

When you use the services of Oyster Logistics UK Ltd (Oyster Logistics) you agree that you are an authorised representative of your company and that you are opening an account with Oyster Logistics for your company.  By ordering services from Oyster Logistics, you and your company, understand that you will not receive transportation services directly from Oyster Logistics but that you will receive shipping and courier services provided by a carrier or carriers.

You agree to the terms and conditions in the Oyster Logistics Account Application form. You agree that the information provided in the Account Application form for the purpose of obtaining credit is warranted to be true.

You agree that Oyster Logistics may cancel your account at any time without prior notice for any reason or no reason.

Subject to the terms and conditions of carriers

These conditions apply to each shipment you arrange through Oyster Logistics to the exclusion of any other terms that you seek to impose or incorporate, or which are implied by trade, custom, practice or course of dealing.  Each time you book a shipment, you do so on these conditions.  You agree that all shipments are subject to the terms and conditions of the carriers, as well as these terms and conditions. You agree to become familiar and comply with each carrier’s terms and conditions, which can be found on each courier’s websites and/or air waybills prior to tendering any shipments.

You hereby agree to indemnify us in respect of all liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses (including but not limited to any direct, indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit and all interest, penalties and legal costs (calculated on a full indemnity basis) and all reasonable professional costs and expenses) suffered or incurred by us in connection with your breach of such terms and conditions.


You agree not to resell the services of Oyster Logistics to other persons or companies without prior written agreement from a director of Oyster Logistics and you agree to immediately notify Oyster Logistics if another company is found to be using your Oyster Logistics account.

You agree that any quoted rates may change if the characteristics of the actual shipment differ from those reported by you such as: weight, dimension, commodity or any other conditions not accurately described at the time the shipment is processed.


Claims are processed based on the Terms & Conditions set by the carrier shipping the goods.


You agree to the above terms and conditions of use and the payment terms as set out on your invoices.  Also set out on the Oyster Logistics Account Application form, as amended by agreement in writing from time to time.

The charges for each shipment relate directly to the weight and dimensions you advise. If the actual weight and dimensions of your shipment are greater than those entered, additional charges may apply to your initial payment.

Items returned from overseas may be subject to return charges.

Your Obligations

When you book a shipment through Oyster Logistics UK Ltd you shall ensure that the terms of the shipment and any information provided are complete and accurate and you shall cooperate with Oyster Logistics UK Ltd and relevant courier in all matters relating to the shipment.

If you fail to comply with the above, Oyster Logistics UK Ltd and/or the relevant courier shall, without limiting any other rights or remedies, have the right to suspend any and all shipments until you remedy the default, and we shall not be liable for any costs or losses sustained or incurred by you arising directly or indirectly from the failure or delay of the shipment. You shall reimburse us on written demand for any costs or losses sustained or incurred arising directly or indirectly from any such default.


The shipping / transit label needs to be attached securely to the box/parcel ready for the driver to collect.  Pallet labels are usually provided by the collection driver.

Please ensure you are available during the parcel ready time and the latest collection time you have detailed.

A window time of at least two hours between parcel ready time and closing time needs to be given.

Morning collections can be requested but cannot be guaranteed – indeed collections are normally made in the afternoons.

Your address location will have its own cut off times to book a collection by. The cut off time for your area may vary between carriers; please check this with the carrier or Oyster Logistics account manager.


Please note that, even where specified deliveries are guaranteed, some areas of the UK and other Worldwide destinations do not offer a guaranteed service. Please contact us if you need assistance.

For deliveries to all countries outside the United Kingdom, a commercial invoice is required for customs clearance.  Bookings without a commercial invoice will be delayed or returned.

Customs procedures vary from country to country. Delays can occur as items go through normal customs clearance. Customs may also require additional paperwork from the receiver.

If there is no one available to receive the parcel, further attempts to deliver may be made. Following unsuccessful delivery attempts your item may be returned. Charges may apply.


This can be a cause of frustration to both sender and receiver so attention to this area is important.

Please provide sufficient internal cushioning to support the goods inside the box from internal movement and use a strong enough box to provide external protection. You hereby warrant to us that such cushioning will be sufficient to protect your goods from normal movements that take place in carrier systems.

Parcels should not be strapped or attached together, this is not a secure way for parcels to travel in a parcel network. No claim can be made for any additional item that was strapped to the original in the event that they become separated in transit.

You hereby warrant that all items travelling through our services will be packaged in such a manner so as to be able to withstand a short drop.  Fragile items should not be sent through our services.

Customer Service

The Oyster Logistics team are on hand to support with any queries relating to the progress of your shipment but please be aware the team are limited to the information becoming available from the carrier(s) involved with the shipment.

Customs Information & Charges

Customs charges paid by the carrier in advance (typically with shipments booked under DDP incoterms) may attract an additional admin charge.  This will vary from carrier to carrier and is dependant on the value of the customs charges applied, by using the services of Oyster Logistics and carrier partners, you hereby agree to pay such admin charges.

We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our site, and in the material published on it. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.

Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Conditions shall limit or exclude the liability of Oyster Logistics for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, or the negligence of its employees, agents or subcontractors or fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Oyster Logistics will not be held liable for any loss of business due to any delayed, damaged or lost shipments nor for any indirect, special or consequential loss or damage.


Without limiting its other rights or remedies, Oyster Logistics may terminate your account with immediate effect by giving written notice to you if you commit a material breach of any of these conditions, including failure to pay any amount due on the due date for payment, suspend or threaten to suspend, or cease or threaten to cease to carry on all or a substantial part of your business.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.


Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in all our web pages, the content is naturally subject to change and we cannot guarantee its accuracy or currency.

We reserve the right to make changes to the information on the site without notice. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations or other terms that may apply to our site or any content on it, whether express or implied.
